He uses two sh-tty amps and a fancy foot doohickey that records in real time to create the extremely convincing illusion. That's right, there are electronic devices out there that basically play your instrument for you. Best part is, you get all the benefits of a rhythm guitarist without the human element. That way there's no one trying to steal your thunder when you're up on stage shreddin' some serious gnar.
