One side of two stories

This book is so bad it would be better backwards. The whole thing revolves around two straight dudes living in on a serene beach in New York during the 1890's who are attempting to build a Time Machine in order to escape the severe oppression of the era. Edward had apparently heard this decade was called "The Gay Nineties," so he tried to write a book about the decade of oppression heterosexuals went through. Not only was this extremely on the off side of the fence, but it was also a shameless display of ignorance. He later claimed in interviews that he had no idea words could have more than one meaning, much less be considered good or bad depending on who you say them to. He was also surprised to find that there isn't a single beach in New York that matched his description. That being said, despite his horribleness as a human being, the book can't be changed. "It was written this way," as Ed often says. It chronicles the lives of the aforementioned "dudes" trying to cope with a society that doesn't support their lifestyle, and in many cases, strongly opposes it. While a better writer would've used this paradigm swap to reverse engineer the sexual bigotry that plagued our society until just recently, he used it to seed a new theory of time travel into public consciousness. "What an ass," you might say. But I would suggest you be careful. He might take it the wrong way.
