ABOUT THE FILM

Something or someone has been spamming Kalvin's voicemail and he will not rest until he figures it out. Countless scary alleyways and giant shadows will cause him to develop a cigarette addiction to cope with the fear of not knowing.

ROLLINS' TAKE:

"Oh boy. The book was better. If you're really into mystery novels and you're okay with the idea of exchanging gaping plot holes for aesthetic appeal, this is faux-nior at its finest. I personally just don't understand how a private detective---someone who is supposed to be hyper-observant and pay attention to details---could possibly forget that his girlfriend is vacationing on the other side of the world. Obviously the phone is going to ring at night. She's in another time zone! Really makes it hard to connect to the character emotionally when he checks his phone at noon and is distraught that she's not calling at that exact moment. I will admit that it's nice to see a movie that isn't afraid to feature characters that smoke. For that I give it five stars."
